Flight Safety Information - October 29, 2021 No. 218 In This Issue : Incident: Jazz E175 near Montreal on Oct 26th 2021, cracked windshield : Incident: Cargojet B763 at Vancouver on Oct 23rd 2021, cargo fire warning : Position Available: Aerospace (Pro Pilot), Tenure-Track Faculty Incident: Jazz E175 near Montreal on Oct 26th 2021, cracked windshield A Jazz Embraer ERJ-175, registration C-FEKD performing flight QK-8944 from Toronto,ON to Moncton,NB (Canada), was enroute at FL290 about 90nm southwest of Montreal,QC (Canada) when the inner ply of the captain's windshield cracked. The crew declared PAN PAN, descended to 10,000 feet and diverted to Montreal for a safe landing about 30 minutes later. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/JZA8944/history/20211026/1810Z/CYYZ/CYQM http://avherald.com/h?article=4ef52eab&opt=0 Incident: Cargojet B763 at Vancouver on Oct 23rd 2021, cargo fire warning A Cargojet Airways Boeing 767-300, registration C-GUAJ performing flight W8-555 from Edmonton,AB to Vancouver,BC (Canada) with 2 crew, was descending towards Vancouver when the crew received a "MAIN CARGO FIRE" indication, fire warnings and the fire bell. When the crew cancelled the Master Warning all other warnings ceased as well. The crew advised ATC of a cargo fire warning, the warning had extinguished and requested priority as well as emergency services on stand by. The aircraft continued for a safe landing in Vancouver, emergency services did not detect any trace of fire or smoke. The aircraft subsequently taxied to the apron with the fire services in trail. The Canadian TSB reported there appeared some history to the fault and troubleshooting was ongoing. The start date for the positions is August 1, 2022. The positions are contingent upon funding. Successful candidates will be expected to teach classes in the Professional Pilot concentration, undertake collaborative and multi-disciplinary research within the department and university, and be actively involved in university and professional service. Required Education Master’s degree in Aerospace, Aviation or closely related field by appointment date Required Related Experience One year of aerospace or aviation industry experience is required. Required License/Registration/Certification Applicants must have : 1) FAA Commercial - Multi-Engine, and valid Flight Instructor Certificates (CFI, CFII, MEI) OR 2) FAA ATP with 14 CFR Part 121 or Part 135 Pilot-in-Command (PIC) experience. Other Desirables Candidates who possess industry or collegiate teaching experience and those with a terminal degree or ABD in Aerospace, Aviation, Education, Business, or other industry-related fields will receive special consideration.
