The aircraft continued a normal departure and climbed to FL310, when Denver Center forwarded a message to the crew stating they had a tail strike on the departure runway. The crew subsequently decided to divert to Denver,CO (USA) where the aircraft landed on runway 35R without further incident about 45 minutes after departure from Hayden. There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained substantial damage however. The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT INCURRED A TAIL STRIKE ON DEPARTURE, HAYDEN, CO.", stated the damage was unknown and rated the occurrence an incident. The NTSB opened an investigation into the occurrence rating the occurrence an accident. http://avherald.com/h?article=4f3b0864&opt=0 Incident: Aeroflot A320 at Belgorod on Jan 23rd 2022, bird strike on landing An Aeroflot Airbus A320-200, registration VP-BLO performing flight SU-1374 from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Belgorod (Russia), landed on Belgorod's runway 29 and taxied to the apron. Rosaviatsia reported about 32 minutes after landing the crew reported a collision with a flock of birds and damage to the right hand engine (CFM56). A subsequent runway inspection found several dead birds on runway 29. The aircraft remained on the ground in Belgorod for about 12 hours, then positioned to Moscow Sheremetyevo and is now on the ground in Sheremetyevo about 6 hours after landing in Moscow. http://avherald.com/h?article=4f398a9d&opt=0 Incident: Canada B38M near Portland on Jan 19th 2022, IRS failure causes loss of RVSM An Air Canada Boeing 737-8 MAX, registration C-GMIU performing flight AC-1054 from Vancouver,BC (Canada) to Phoenix,AZ (USA) with 90 people on board, was enroute at FL370 about 80nm east of Portland,OR (USA) when the crew received indication of the left Inertial Reference System (IRS) as well as autopilot and auto throttle system. The crew descended the aircraft to FL270 and continued the flight to Phoenix handflying the aircraft and landed safely in Phoenix. The Canadian TSB reported maintenance reset the left IRS and performed an Built In Test Equipment test which showed no fault found. The aircraft departed for the return flight about 80 minutes after landing. http://avherald.com/h?article=4f3a9a9a&opt=0 Incident: ANA B789 over Pacific on Jan 23th 2022, captain ill An ANA All Nippon Airways Boeing 787-9, registration JA888A performing flight NH-801 from Tokyo Narita (Japan) to Singapore (Singapore) with 30 passengers and 11 crew, was enroute at FL380 over the Pacific Ocean about 480nm southwest of Tokyo when the captain felt unwell complaining about stomach problems. The crew decided to turn around and return to Tokyo where the aircraft landed safely about 2.5 hours after departure. The flight was cancelled.
