The aircraft landed safely on runway 27 about 25 minutes after departure. A replacement Embraer ERJ-190 registration PH-EZL reached Berlin with a delay of 2 hours. The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 23.5 hours after landing back. http://avherald.com/h?article=4f40e571&opt=0 Accident: SA Airlink JS41 at Venetia Mine on Jan 3rd 2022, bird strike disintegrates propeller, cabin punctured A SA Airlink Jetstream JS-41, registration ZS-NRJ performing a charter flight from Johannesburg to Venetia Mine (South Africa), was on approach to Venetia Mine when a bird impacted the right hand propeller causing one of the blades to separate and penetrate the cabin. The aircraft continued for a safe landing. The airline confirmed the incident on Jan 4th 2022 stating: "Yesterday an Airlink Jetstream 41 aircraft operating a private charter flight struck a large bird upon landing at Venetia airfield. None of the passengers or crew were injured although the aircraft sustained substantial damage." Venetia Mine is located at Coordinates S22.4481 E29.3377. On Feb 2nd 2022 South Africa's Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) released their preliminary report reporting the aircraft collided with a Kori Bustard during the landing roll on runway 08 at a speed of 104.6 knots over ground while the propellers were in the reverse thrust configuration (course pitch). The bird had become airborne from the grass area next to the runway on the right side, collided with the propeller causing one blade to sever. Several fragment of the blade penetrated the fuselage in the 3rd passenger seat row. The aircraft began to shake, the right hand enigne showed overtemperature. While slowing the aircraft on the runway the crew shut the engine down. Due the severe vibrations several of the right hand engine's components received damage. The SACAA stated: "The accident was considered survivable as no person was seated at seat row number 3 during the accident. The aircraft landed safely on runway 24 about 25 minutes later. The aircraft returned to Los Angeles landing on runway 06R in opposite direction to the active runways about 15 minutes after departure. Not actual turbulence; the COVID-era kind. The plane reportedly had to turn around because of two disruptive passengers. Video captured by fellow traveler Brianna Morfesi showed what led up to a woman and her male companion getting ejected from the flight. The video first appeared on the onlooker’s Instagram account @breezybri10, and was later shared with the local lifestyle page Only in Dade. The clip begins a few minutes into the flight, which had just begun taxiing on the tarmac. Morfesi was seated a few rows up from the duo and had her phone camera in selfie mode. Videos on her Insta Stories show what went down before the couple’s dramatic exit. “What did I do wrong?” the blonde passenger keeps asking the flight attendant. “Can you tell me: What did I do wrong!?” The passenger continues her profanity-laden rant, slurring her words, as flight attendants surround her seat: “I haven’t done anything wrong. I don’t want to be kicked off. I want to get to Omaha!” The crew waits patiently in the aisle as the woman collects her belongings. While gathering her things, the woman stumbles slightly and bends down to retrieve something from the floor. “My lucky [bleeping] pennies,” she mumbles to a flight attendant who tries to hurry her along. “I’m getting my lucky pennies and you can shut up.” Morfesi, who captioned the video “Drunk Karen” was surprised the content went viral and meant to only show it to a few friends as a “joke.” The Atlanta-based Instagrammer told the Miami Herald that the two people were “yelling and cursing” almost immediately after boarding. The flight was only delayed by about a half-hour and everyone was back in the air in no time — minus two. Delta released a statement to the Miami Herald late Wednesday: “Delta Flight 1582 from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta on Feb. 1 took a 28-minute departure delay as two unruly customers were deplaned back into the terminal,” the Atlanta based carrier said. “Delta has zero-tolerance for unruly behavior at our airports and on our flights as nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and flight crews.
