Fighter aircraft were dispatched while the aircraft continued towards Nuremberg. The aircraft landed without further incident on runway 10 about one hour later and taxied to a remote apron. About one hour after landing it was determined, that the alert of a possible hijacking was false and was caused by a malfunction of the aircraft systems. The airport was closed for about 2 hours. Local police stated they needed to assume a hijacking of the aircraft after the code for unlawful interference had been transmitted and ATC could no longer reach the cockpit. According to information The Aviation Herald received the aircraft transmittted unlawful interference while in Slovenian Airspace, subsequently communication with the cockpit could not be established. Eurofighters from Austrian military base Zeltweg intercepted the Boeing, radio communication was re-established at that time, the crew advised they had a faulty radio and had set the unlawful interference code in error while intending to select the code for loss of communication. The fighter jets accompanied the aircraft until safe landing in Nuremberg, where special forces of police received and secured the aircraft. https://avherald.com/h?article=543a363c&opt=0 Incident: Emirates A359 near Adelaide on Oct 12th 2026, sparks seen from engine An Emirates Airlines Airbus A350-900, registration A6-EXQ performing flight EK-441 from Adelaide,SA (Australia) to Dubai (United Arab Emirates), was enroute at FL320 about 320nm northwest of Adelaide when the crew descended the aircraft but continued in direction of Dubai. It happened on Oct. 7 just before 4 p.m. According to data from Flightradar24, the two aircraft were about 1,000 feet apart at their closest points. The Delta regional plane was going about 147 mph before the plane pulled back up and went around and the business jet was going about 103 mph. In audio from Air Traffic Control, the controller and the pilot disagree about whether the business jet pilot had clearance to take off. "The crew initiated a go-around to ensure safe spacing with a departing aircraft on a nearby runway," Delta said in a statement to ABC. The flight landed safely. https://abc7ny.com/post/lga-close-call-investigation-faa-between-delta-flight-business-jet-laguardia/19935554/ More than 2,500 aircraft are now equipped with Garmin's revolutionary Autoland system Robert J. The FAA issued an emergency airworthiness directive Tuesday grounding all Elixir Aircraft Model Elixir airplanes following a fatal accident during a production flight. The directive prohibits further operations until the aircraft have undergone corrective actions approved by the FAA. U.S. Grounding Follows European Action The FAA’s decision follows an emergency directive issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency on Oct. 2. EASA suspended operations of the entire Elixir fleet while investigators work to determine the cause of the accident. The initial grounding in Europe came shortly after the aircraft manufacturer began expanding deliveries into the U.S. flight training market. The FAA said it determined that the unsafe condition could exist or develop in other aircraft of the same type. The agency adopted the directive without the usual public comment period, citing the potential safety consequences of allowing operations to continue before the cause of the accident is established. Three U.S. Aircraft Affected The FAA estimates that three Elixir aircraft are currently registered in the United States. The directive applies to all Model Elixir airplanes, regardless of certification category, and generally prohibits special flight permits unless specifically approved under the directive’s alternative compliance procedures. The agency said no approved inspection or modification procedures have yet been established, making it unable to estimate compliance costs. “The FAA considers this AD to be an interim action,” the agency said in the directive. “If final action is later identified, the FAA might consider further rulemaking.” The FAA is accepting public comments on the directive through Nov. 27. https://avweb.com/aviation-news/elixir-aircraft-grounded-fatal-accident/ C919 set to lead way as Chinese aircraft forecast to secure 5% of world market in 20 years Cirium’s aircraft fleet outlook says Airbus and Boeing will continue to dominate despite ‘gradual shift’ to emerging players like Comac China’s chief civilian aircraft builder will command 5 per cent of the world’s fleet allocation by 2045 as global demand for narrowbody jets and the domestic order book look strong, an aviation analytics firm has forecast. Airbus would have 47 per cent of the passenger fleet allocation and Boeing 39 per cent, both leading state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac), analytics firm Cirium forecast on Tuesday. It said Embraer would take 3 per cent and ATR 2 per cent. Comac has a roughly 1 per cent share of today’s world fleet allocation, independent aviation analyst Li Hanming said. In a summary of its annual aircraft fleet outlook, Cirium said the forecast allocations would “illustrate the persistence of the Airbus and Boeing concentration alongside the gradual shift” towards emerging manufacturers. https://www.scmp.com/economy/china-economy/article/3370841/c919-set-lead-way-chinese-aircraft-forecast-secure-5-world-market-20-years Rep. Gabe Vasquez Sends Letter to FAA Demanding Reversal of Decommissioning of Critical Air Safety Technology WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) partnered with Rep. Stansbury and Rep. Leger Fernández to urge the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to not decommission critical air safety technology used by the Double Eagle Airport II (DEII) in Albuquerque. The FAA recently initiated a study to decommission the Instrument Landing System (ILS) at the Double Eagle Airport without providing answers regarding the recent airspace closure and plane crash incidents in and around New Mexico airspace. Pilots in New Mexico use both ILS and GPS to land due to the unique challenges posed by flying commercial aircraft near military bases. “We respectfully urge the FAA to maintain use of this critical technology given the unique demands of New Mexico that require aviation redundancy to maintain public safety and to provide our office with a briefing on airspace safety,” wrote the members. “In light of this change, the recent crash outside Ruidoso and other recent aviation incidents involving navigation technology issues, more information is needed before moving forward.” The FAA recently began a study to determine whether ILS technology should be decommissioned at the DEII, which conducts tens of thousands of flights annually. ILS is a ground based guidance system for aircrafts typically used when pilots are unable to find the runway. It complements modern GPS-enabled navigation that only provides lateral guidance to the runway. While GPS-enabled navigation works in most conditions, New Mexico has its own set of unique airspace challenges due to nearby military bases that force a need for both ILS and GPS. “The FAA has still not provided sufficient answers regarding the recent airspace closure in El Paso and plane crash in Ruidoso – and has still not shown that it is improving coordination with other agencies or ensuring that my constituents’ are safe,” said Vasquez. “In light of their recent failures, the public must have a lot more information before the FAA orders decommissioning any navigation safety tools or resources for our pilots.” “DEII plays a critical role in our region’s aviation system as a reliever airport for the Sunport and an important facility for flight training and public safety operations. Maintaining ILS capability is essential to ensuring the airport can continue to serve these functions safely and effectively, particularly when reliable navigation is needed most,” said Manny Manriquez, Director of Aviation, City of Albuquerque. https://vasquez.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-gabe-vasquez-sends-letter-faa-demanding-reversal-decommissioning-critical Boeing deliveries tick up to 57 jets in September SEATTLE, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Boeing (BA.N), opens new tab said on Tuesday it delivered 57 jets in September, up from 51 in August and 55 a year earlier as the US plane maker works to ramp ‌up production of its best-selling 737 MAX narrow-body. Tiffany WAUSAU, Wis. (WKOW) — The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released a preliminary report on what happened when a plane carrying gubernatorial candidate and Republican Congressman Tom Tiffany made an emergency landing in Lake Wausau. The plane was headed from La Crosse to Wausau on Saturday, Sept. 12. According to the NTSB report, while preparing the plane for a landing in Wausau, the pilot reported a higher-than-normal engine exhaust gas temperature, which reminded him to switch fuel tanks. When he switched to the right main tank, the engine did not respond. WAUSAU, Wis. (WKOW) — Congressman Tom Tiffany (R-WI) says his campaign for governor continues after a plane he was on made an emergency water … The pilot said he did not turn on the electric fuel boost pump while he tried to restore engine power, the NTSB report states. At that point, the pilot maneuvered the airplane toward the runway at the airport and prepared for a water landing. The pilot and Rep. Tiffany got out of the plane safely after it hit the water. Both came away with minor injuries. Prior to the flight from La Crosse to Wausau, the pilot had flown from Langlade County Airport to La Crosse Regional Airport. He left Langlade County with full fuel, but did not refuel in La Crosse. The NTSB report said the pilot stated that he had the left main fuel tank selected for both flight legs, except for when he briefly went to the auxiliary tanks. Rep. Tom Tiffany sustains minor injuries after emergency plane landing WAUSAU, Wis. (WKOW) -- Wisconsin's Republican gubernatorial candidate Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI) says he and his pilot sustained minor injuries a… The aircraft was examined after it was recovered from the water. The examination showed the left main tank was empty. The right main tank and both auxiliary tanks were full of fuel. An inspector with the Federal Aviation Administration spoke with the pilot's aviation mechanic after the crash. The mechanic said he and the pilot had talked about the accident, during which the pilot said the loss of engine power was due to his delay in switching fuel tanks and not turning on the electric fuel boost pump. The NTSB is still investigating and will issue a final report at a later date. https://www.wkow.com/news/top-stories/ntsb-report-delay-in-switching-fuel-tanks-led-to-emergency-water-landing-for-plane-carrying/article_50ce5a9b-0854-45c9-bbe1-7c8f28809a05.html CALENDAR OF EVENTS .
